Below is a description of each Programme which will help you to decide if it’s right for you.

All Programmes are free of charge and more than one may be taken up to increase chances of job opportunities.

Food Safety Level II (HACCP)

The Food Safety Level 2 / HACCP Course comprises of a one-day training course covering all aspects of food safety, in a friendly interactive classroom setting, including the following topics:-
Session 1 – Food Hygiene & storage, Food Preparation, Cooking & Display Session 2 – Food Contamination Session 3 – Food Delivery Session 4 – Date Control Session 5 – Personal hygiene Session 6 – Pest control Session 7 – Cleaning Session 8 – HACCP After successfully completing an exam at the end of the course participants will receive a certificate which is valid for 3 years. |

Safe Pass

The purpose of the Safe Pass Health and Safety Awareness Training Programme is to ensure, over the course of time, that all Construction site and Local Authority personnel, will have a basic knowledge of Health and Safety, and be able to work on site without being a risk to themselves or others who might be affected by their acts or omission
Aims of the programme Raise the standard of safety awareness in the Construction Industry Ensure that all site personnel undergo basic health and safety awareness training with the view to making a positive contribution to the prevention of accidents and avoidance of health hazards. Maintain a register of personnel who have received such training. To provide all participants with a Safe Pass registration card, valid for four years which will indicate that the holder has attended a formal course in health and safety awareness. Safe Pass is not only required for construction work; also security personnel, groundskeepers, plumbers, carpenters, those seeking to do certain apprenticeships etc |

Manual Handling

The aim of this course is to give the student the skills and knowledge required to be proficient in Manual Handling operations, and in doing so, to minimize the risk of injury to themselves and their colleagues.
Course Outline: Define Manual Handling Emphasize the hazards of poor manual handling State the legal obligations of both the employer and the employee Describe the functions and importance of the spine with the aid of props List the principles of safe lifting Demonstrate 5 basic lifts. Class must perform basic lifts Upon successful completion of the course the participant will receive a Manual handling Cert valid for three years |

Retail Sales/Customer Service

A comprehensive training programme developed to prepare participants for employment in the retail sector. This course will benefit those who wish to progress towards retail sales, management or related disciplines.
Identify the features and benefits of a product or service Open and close sales using proven selling techniques Demonstrate comprehensive product knowledge & deliver a winning sales pitch Develop excellent communication channels with customer and apply relationship selling techniques Overcome customer objections during the sales process Outline the legal and moral responsibilities of a retailer towards consumers Process refunds, voids and vouchers using EPOS systems Manage challenges and deal effectively with customer complaints |

Identify the roles and responsibilities of retail staff Understand the elements of a modern Point of Sale System Use a modern Point of Sale till to conduct sales Learn about the Euro currency and the security features of the EURO notes and coins Be able to identify a range of payment types used in Retail Be able to balance a till Be aware of Retail Security and different types of fraud. |

This course covers the four key elements of a Barista:
Grinder essentials Espresso shots Milk texturing and Latte Art basics Machine maintenance and cleaning
In line with best practice in training each of the four elements has a specific learning outcome. This ensures the learner is proficient in each on completion of the course.
Upon successful completion of the training, each participant receives a certificate from Fintan Stanley Ltd. |

Individual Supports | Waterford Area Partnership can offer grants up to €500.00 to enable individuals to take up pre-employment training not offered by ourselves. We can also offer limited travel supports.
